The elected General Chairman of the Indonesian Golf Course Owners Association Golf Indonesia (APLGI), Budiarsa Sastrawinata, has confirmed the new direction for national golf development. Public outreach and improving game standards will be the top priorities for APLGI's 2026–2030 leadership term, with a long-term target to enable Indonesia to compete at international level.
"Public outreach for Golf as a Sport is APLGI's main priority moving forward. Alongside this, we must also elevate the overall standard of golf itself, so that Indonesia can perform and achieve recognition on the global stage," stated Budiarsa in an official release.
Budiarsa was elected by acclamation at the National General Members Meeting (RUANAS) held at Damai Indah Golf BSD Course, Banten last week. He succeeds M. Tachril Sapi'ie, who led APLGI for two consecutive terms: 2018–2022 and 2022–2026.

Budiarsa emphasized the critical role of Golf Course owners in advancing this Sports Ecosystem within Indonesia. Per his statement, their contribution extends far beyond commercial industry operations, as they also carry direct influence over athlete coaching and development.
"Make no mistake, Golf Course owners hold enormous responsibility to support our athletes in improving their competitive performance," Budiarsa added.
Meanwhile, former APLGI General Chairman M. Tachril Sapi'ie expressed hope that the new leadership will bring fresh momentum to grow Indonesia's national golf sector.
"I intentionally selected the theme 'New Board, New Spirit' with the expectation that this elected leadership will bring renewed drive, above all to nurture and advance the golf industry we all cherish," Tachril remarked.
Under the previous administration, APLGI actively worked to expand golf's public reach. One flagship initiative was the Indonesia Golf Festival 2025, which is scheduled to be held once again in October 2026.
At present, APLGI oversees 58 registered golf courses across Indonesia, and operates as the central governing body for national golf management standards, service quality, and facility development.
With its new leadership board and clearly defined long-term vision, APLGI is positioned to become the primary driving force elevating Indonesian golf standards, to enable the country to compete and succeed at the international level.
