The Bandung City Government is working to accelerate the arrangement process for the Kebun Binatang Bandung (Bandung Zoo) Tourism zone, through a re-tendering mechanism for the management partner which is targeted to be finalized at the end of May 2026.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan confirmed this re-tendering is being executed after the first tender phase failed to reach any agreement with interested parties.
"The first tender truly did not produce an agreement, so a re-tender will be conducted. It is expected this re-tendering will provide negotiation room between ANTARA the tender organizer and participating bidders," Farhan stated in his official release on Wednesday.

Bandung Zoo is planned to offer free admission during Eid.
At this stage, only three candidates remain active in the selection process out of all initial registrants. All three parties are still assessed to have eligibility to advance to the next phase as Bandung Zoo management partners.
One of the primary challenges faced by the Bandung City Government is differing stances on commitment value with prospective partners.
According to Farhan, Bandung Zoo is an extremely high-value regional asset, thus it requires an operator that is not only financially solid, but also possesses competent professional management capabilities.
"The obstacle is the commitment value. This asset holds very high worth. That is exactly why we require a partner with very strong financial capacity and management capability," he stated.
He added that the Bandung Zoo management contract will be structured as a long-term 26-year agreement, which requires thorough mature planning from the appointed operator.
Previous audit records noted that Bandung Zoo has been able to generate annual ticket sales revenue of approximately IDR 26 billion. This figure demonstrates the massive potential of the site as one of the flagship Tourism Destinations in West Java.
Through this re-tendering process, the Bandung City Government expects to secure the best possible management partner, so that Bandung Zoo can be developed into a more modern, properly organized facility that remains a favourite family Tourist Destination in the Flower City.
