Indonesia's young men's doubles pair, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin has been confirmed absent from the Singapore Open 2026 tournament. Raymond developed a left knee issue shortly before the scheduled departure to Singapore. This decision was taken as a precaution to prevent the Injury from worsening amid this season's packed BWF tournament calendar.

Indonesian Men's Doubles coach Antonius Budi Ariantho explained that Raymond had been experiencing discomfort for the past week, even after undergoing therapy and adjusted training routines.

"Over the last week Raymond has complained of uncomfortable sensations at the back of his left knee. He has received therapy and had his training regime adjusted, but during the final medical check prior to departure the discomfort was still present," stated Antonius in an official written release from PP PBSI.

According to the coach, technically Raymond could still have been pushed to compete, however the risk of delivering non-optimal performance became the primary consideration for the withdrawal decision.

"Instead of forcing them to Travel, I decided to withdraw Raymond/Joaquin from Singapore Open 2026. He would technically still be able to play, but definitely not at full capacity -- certain movements would be restricted, there would be ongoing obstruction in his knee," he added.

With this young pair absent, Indonesia's Men's Doubles sector will now rely on two leading pairs: Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani for Singapore Open 2026, which will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 26 to 31 May.

Antonius hopes Raymond will recover promptly and return to compete in the upcoming tournament series, including the Indonesia Open 2026 next week.

"Hopefully with the remaining time available, his recovery and preparation will put him in better condition for the Indonesia Open later," he expressed.

Beyond the men's doubles division, Indonesia will still field multiple other representatives at Singapore Open 2026. This includes Jonatan Christie and Alwi Farhan in men's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani in Women's Singles, along with several competing pairs in the Women's Doubles and mixed doubles categories.
