Shin Tae-yong has once again taken on a significant role in Indonesian Football, this time as a technical advisor for the Indonesian football 7 National Team. This appointment was announced alongside the declaration of the Indonesian F7 Federation in Jakarta, marking a new step in the development of 7-a-side football (7 vs 7) domestically.

The Chairman of the Indonesian F7 Federation, Dudung Abdurachman, believes Shin's presence is key to bringing a new standard to the team. He hopes the success achieved by the coach from South Korea while managing the Indonesian National Team can be replicated at the F7 level.

"Tactical matters, intelligence matters, and so on are secondary, but the most important thing is mentality. Given Shin Tae-yong's successful experience with PSSI, I proposed, how about we recruit Shin Tae-yong for Football 7," he added.

While managing the Indonesian National Team, Shin successfully built a strong competitive mentality. He led the Garuda Squad to compete at the Asian level, including advancing to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and guiding the U-23 team to the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup, just one step away from a Paris Olympics ticket.

Now, a new challenge awaits on a different stage. The Indonesian F7 National Team is scheduled to compete in the Intercontinental Cup in Rome, Italy, from July 30 to August 2, 2026, an event organized by the International Football 7 Federation.

In preparation for the tournament, head coach Socrates Matulessy will lead the team directly on the field. He will be supported by a coaching staff, ranging from assistant coaches to fitness coaches and physiotherapists.

Shin's role as technical advisor will focus more on system building, mentality, and long-term development direction. The Indonesian F7 Federation has even secured him on a long-term contract, including projections towards the 2027 F7 World Cup.
