If you're looking for Holiday ideas in Jakarta that aren't just fun but also full of Cultural Experiences, the "Gelora Nusantara" event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) could be your next inspiration.

Held to commemorate TMII's 51st anniversary on Saturday, April 18, 2026, this spectacular event successfully set a record in the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) as the medley dance performance with the most diverse regional origins, representing all 34 provinces and involving over 1,000 dancers.

This event wasn't just an ordinary show. For travelers who love cultural exploration, "Gelora Nusantara" offered a complete package: stunning visuals, stories from each region, and an experience that made you feel like "Traveling across Indonesia in a single day".

"This achievement marks a significant milestone in preserving and promoting our archipelago's culture nationally," said Acting CEO of TMII, Ratri Paramita, in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Supported by TMII's Regional Pavilions and the Dance Teachers Communication Forum, this event also had strong educational value, meant not just to be watched but understood.

"Through this collaboration, Gelora Nusantara becomes not only a performance platform but also an educational vessel promoting Indonesian Culture to the wider community," she stated.

This year's TMII anniversary theme, "Unending Cultural Preservation", came alive through thousands of movements on stage.

"Through Gelora Nusantara, we emphasize that cultural preservation isn't a one-time effort but an ongoing process that must be continually nurtured," she added.

What made it extraordinary: over 1,000 dancers from all 34 provinces performed sequentially from western to eastern Indonesia. From Tari Bungong Jeumpa (Aceh), Tari Janger (Bali), to Tari Yamko Rambe Yamko (Papua), all flowed in one seamless sequence.

Java Island contributed iconic dances too - Tari Cublak-Cublak Suweng, Tari Manuk Dadali, and the ever-beloved Tari Ondel-Ondel.

The climax was the colossal "Kicir-Kicir" finale. Thousands of dancers moved in unison, creating visual harmony that was not only beautiful but emotionally stirring - a tangible symbol of unity in diversity.

According to Ratri, this massive collaboration proves culture can be preserved inclusively.

"We want culture to feel accessible, not distant or exclusive. TMII strives to create cultural experiences that are inclusive, interactive, and enjoyable for all, especially the Younger Generation," Ratri emphasized.

For travelers seeking unique experiences, TMII is no longer just a classic tourist spot. With events like this, it transforms into a living, dynamic cultural destination - and definitely Instagram-worthy.

"With Gelora Nusantara, we hope to keep inspiring people to love and preserve Indonesian Culture while expanding our cultural promotion globally," she concluded.
