The prestigious The Masters Tournament once again showcases fierce competition among the world's best golfers at Augusta National golf Club. This event isn't just about the championship title, but also the prestigious symbol of the iconic green jacket and substantial financial rewards.
As one of the most prestigious majors in the golf calendar, the Masters often delivers drama, surprises, and disappointment for top stars. Favorite Bryson DeChambeau exited before the Weekend following declining performance amid scrutiny over his earlier comments.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy delivered an impressive performance by leading from the first round. He maintained his advantage despite pressure from Scottie Scheffler, who trailed by just five strokes after carding seven under par (65) in the third round.

Beyond the title chase, attention focuses on the substantial prize purse. Organizers confirmed this year's edition as the men's major tournament with the largest prize in history. The total prize pool reached $22.5 million USD, up from $21 million USD the previous year. The Champion is guaranteed to take home $4.5 million USD.
McIlroy previously pocketed $4.2 million USD when achieving his career Grand Slam. Should he win this week, that amount could increase. However, victory at Augusta transcends monetary value.
“This will be my first time driving down Magnolia Lane, and it's just about enjoying my week,” McIlroy stated before the 2026 tournament.
“You know, I enjoy the perks of being a Masters champion. Having a parking spot in the Champions lot, using the Champions locker room. Hosting the dinner on Tuesday night.”
Exclusive traditions like the Champions Dinner and special access at Augusta constitute honors reserved solely for Masters winners.
The champion's prize has consistently increased recently. In 2024, Scheffler secured $3.6 million USD, while Jon Rahm earned $3.24 million USD in 2023.
Tracing further back, Scheffler received $2.7 million USD in 2022, while Hideki Matsuyama took home over $1.5 million USD in 2021.
Amid rising prize trends and intense competition, the Masters continues affirming its status as golf's premier global stage blending prestige, history, and significant rewards.
