The Indonesian national Futsal team Indonesia has set a target of reaching the semifinals in the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026, which begins on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Nonthaburi Hall.

Head coach Héctor Souto is taking a realistic approach by fielding a squad mostly composed of young players developed through domestic competitions.

"We just want to try to be competitive. Our main goal is to develop the national team to have more players ready to play whenever we need them," said Souto in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

"Regarding this tournament, we will take it match by match. Hopefully, we can reach the semifinals, that is our result target for the group stage, and after that, we'll see what happens."

This strategy is part of the Indonesian Futsal Federation's long-term vision to build the strength of the national team. The tournament is seen not only as a competition but also as a means to enrich the players' international experience.

The majority of the squad consists of talents from the Professional Futsal League (PFL), who are considered to have great potential to develop and become the backbone of the national team in the future.

By providing international playing time, the federation hopes Indonesia will develop a deeper and more mature squad ready to compete in various events.

In the opening match, Indonesia is scheduled to face the Brunei Darussalam national futsal team on Monday (6/4). Support from the Indonesian people is expected to provide additional motivation for the Garuda Squad to achieve maximum results in this tournament.
