Warm Moment of Nadal and Iga Swiatek in Mallorca, Start of a New Collaboration

Two generations of world tennis met on one court in Mallorca, Spain. Living legend Rafael Nadal welcomed Iga Swiatek, the current star who is writing her new chapter.

That moment occurred at the Rafa Nadal Academy, where tradition and ambition meet. Swiatek came not merely to Train, but to begin a new journey with her coach, Francisco Roig, a figure with a long-standing bond to Nadal.

“Welcome back to the Rafa Nadal Academy!”, wrote Nadal on the same day Swiatek announced her collaboration with Roig, in a social media post on Thursday, April 2.

"Enjoy your time here! We hope you feel at home."

That warmth was immediately reciprocated by Swiatek, who has long considered Nadal an inspiration in her career.

"Thank you for having us. So happy to be back!," wrote Swiatek in reply on Instagram Stories.

The relationship between Nadal and Roig is not a new Story. The two collaborated from 2005 until 2022, a golden period during which Nadal dominated world tennis. 

Within that span, he collected 22 Grand Slam titles and spent 209 weeks as the world's number one Tennis Player.

Now, that trail of experience is expected to be passed on to Swiatek. The 24-year-old Polish player has collected six Grand Slam titles and spent 125 weeks atop the WTA rankings.

This togetherness in Mallorca is not just a training session, but a meeting of idol and successor, ANTARA a glorious past and a future full of potential.
