The crushing defeat against Indonesia National Team hasn't extinguished the spirit of St. Kitts and Nevis. Coach Marcelo Augusto Silva Serrano stated this result will be used as evaluation material to bounce back when his team faces the Solomon Islands in the continuation of the Fifa Series on Monday, March 30th.
Playing at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Friday, March 27th, Marcelo said his team started the match quite promisingly. In the first 15-20 minutes, the game organization went according to plan, even managing to create the first chance.
“We were quite organized at the start of the match and even had the first opportunity. If we could have scored first, the match might have unfolded differently,” said Marcelo in the post-match press conference.

However, Marcelo continued, that momentum collapsed due to repeated errors in the defensive line. He stated that Indonesia's two opening goals stemmed from a similar pattern.
“Those two goals came from similar mistakes. Our defensive line lost a bit of organization and they were able to exploit the space very well,” he said.
The 0-4 loss to the Indonesia National Team serves as an important lesson. Four goals from Beckham Putra (2), Ole Romeny, and Mauro Zijlstra showed How small mistakes can have a big impact at the international level.
Assistant coach Vitor Tinoco added that the situation became more complex with the limited squad brought to the tournament. He said the team did not play at full strength, especially in the defensive sector.
“We couldn't bring several key players, especially in the defensive line. We played with three defenders who aren't natural center-backs, so mistakes were bound to happen,” said Vitor.
Vitor also highlighted that the team is still in the early stages of formation as the players and staff of the New Coach gathered in person for the first time.
Nevertheless, Marcelo ensured the team's mental foundation remains strong. The heavy defeat didn't shake the locker room; instead, it became material for reflection to perform more solidly in the next match.
“I don't see a problem from the mental side. The players kept their heads held high. We can't punish the whole team just because of two individual mistakes,” he concluded.
