If you're searching for the best white-sand beaches in the world, The Whitsunday Islands, Australia, could be one of the destinations. This archipelago is known as a paradise for sailing, Diving, snorkeling, and boasts some of the most stunning beaches in the Southern Hemisphere.
One of the most famous beaches is Whitehaven, on Whitsunday Island, the largest island in the archipelago.
Whitehaven Beach is a destination that requires some effort to reach. This Tourist Destination is only accessible by boat, helicopter, or seaplane. However, once you see the dazzling White Sand, the journey is entirely worth it.
Stretching over four miles long, this beach is composed of 98 percent silica sand. This means it's incredibly white, soft, fine as powder, and doesn't retain heat.
Even when temperatures peak during the Australian summer (December - March), travelers can still sunbathe or walk barefoot comfortably.
The sand is indeed extraordinary, but the beauty is perfected by the contrast of the bluish-green seawater and lush tropical landscapes.
Due to its remote location, Whitehaven Beach is the definition of a pristine beach. The area is also located within the National Park of the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
After arriving, the only "task" for travelers is to enjoy the warm water and silica sand. Swim, snorkel, or take a leisurely stroll, but be sure not to take anything away from this beach.
Both professional and amateur photographers will keep snapping pictures on this "postcard" beach.
However, the best views come from Hill Inlet Lookout. This viewpoint is at the northern tip of the island. If travelers want to hike up to it, wearing Sports shoes is recommended.
"This is my second visit to Whitehaven Beach, and its untouched natural beauty still amazes me to this day," said one Traveler in a review quoted from travelandleisure.
"The silica sand radiates a shimmering white light, contrasting against the backdrop of blue sea, making it an incredible location for photography and simply relaxing. Also watch out for dolphins, turtles, and other marine life that inhabit the tropical waters along this coastline, a true Australian paradise."
