Manchester United (MU) host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League with high confidence. However, MU manager Michael Carrick chose to stay grounded ahead of the crucial duel against Spurs at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday, February 7, 2026.
A series of positive results in MU's last three matches marks the Red Devils' revival as they look towards the top of the 2025/2026 Premier League table.
Carrick is aware the next test is not easy. Tottenham, although still lingering in mid-table, possess a dangerous attacking line capable of punishing opponents if they lapse.

"They have quality attackers who like to press the opponent's defense, play direct Football, and are aggressive when entering the penalty box. That is something we must be wary of," said Carrick, quoted from the Manchester United official website.
Tottenham this season rely on depth in their forward line. They have Randal Kolo Muani, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, Mathys Tel, Mohamed Kudus, and Xavi Simons.
Their combination has so far produced 25 goals in the Premier League. This figure confirms Spurs remain dangerous, regardless of their league position.
Carrick believes Tottenham are now in a transitional phase starting to find their rhythm. He highlighted how they managed to hold Manchester City to a Draw, despite being hit by an Injury storm and changes in player composition.
According to Carrick, Spurs' current situation differs from their previous meeting. Many key players are starting to return, making the challenge at Old Trafford increasingly complex.
Nevertheless, the 44-year-old manager actually looks forward to the match as a real test for his team.
For United, the team's performance shows signs of stability, but Carrick insists euphoria is the main enemy.
"Our team's condition is good and the players have worked very hard throughout this week. We must remain humble and not get complacent with the results achieved so far. Our focus is entirely on the next match. The challenge is big, and we are ready to face it," said Carrick.
For MU, the match against Spurs isn't just about prestige, but also league position. Manchester United currently occupy fourth place with 41 points from 24 matches.
They trail Aston Villa in the top three by five points.
A victory over Spurs would close the gap and put pressure on the competitors above them.
On the other hand, Tottenham arrive with a mission to improve their position. Spurs are still in 14th place with 29 points from 24 matches.
Three points from Old Trafford could lift them to 13th place, overtaking Brighton and Hove Albion, considering the point difference is only two points.
