Michael Carrick hasn't fully unleashed Mason Mount during his initial matches as interim manager of Manchester United. However, despite Mount's limited playing time, Carrick still considers the former Chelsea midfielder crucial for United.
Mason Mount hasn't reached his best form since his expensive transfer from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023. One key reason is recurring injuries.
This season, the 27-year-old has made just 17 appearances in the Premier League, mostly as a substitute, scoring three goals.

Mount has registered seven goals in 66 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United. These numbers don't yet reflect the high expectations surrounding his signing. But for Carrick, statistics aren't the only measure.
"I'm a huge fan of Mason Mount. There's so much to admire about him," Carrick stated via the club's official website.
"From the beginning, I recognized his quality, attitude, and character," he added.
This statement underscores Carrick's view of Mount beyond goal contributions. Carrick is known for maximizing midfield potential, as he did with Patrick Dorgu before injury struck.
Dorgu's Injury has opened the door for Mount to secure a more significant role, potentially even as a starter.
So far, Mount has only made one substitute appearance under Carrick during the Manchester Derby. Against Arsenal, he remained on the bench.
Nevertheless, Carrick insists Mount remains part of his future plans.
"I believe Mount is an important player for us," he emphasized.
Can Carrick unlock the best version of Mason Mount and transform him into Manchester United's midfield engine?
