Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, has welcomed the new Formula 1 regulations set for implementation in the 2026 season with high enthusiasm. The driver from Monaco described the new rules as a major challenge.
According to Leclerc, the regulatory transition phase will level the playing field, considering all teams are still in the development stage.
This situation opens up an opportunity for anyone to be competitive from the start of the season.

"It's a big challenge but it's something that excites me, and with all the work behind the scenes, I'm really just interested in driving and seeing How it feels to drive, so it's very exciting," said Leclerc as quoted by Formula 1 on Monday.
The 2026 season will mark one of the biggest turning points in Formula 1 history. The new regulations bring significant changes, from car design to aerodynamic characteristics.
F1 cars will be made smaller and lighter, with a minimum weight set at 770 kilograms or 30 kilograms lighter than the previous generation.
Not only that, Formula 1 will also eliminate the DRS system and replace it with movable front and rear wings.
This change comes with a 15-30 percent reduction in downforce, which will reduce speed in corners but increase speed on straights.
Consequently, racing styles and team strategies are certain to change as well.
For Leclerc, these major changes serve as extra motivation. Especially with the arrival of Ferrari's new car, the SF-26, unveiled last Weekend.
Although he hasn't driven the car yet as it's still under development, he admits he can't wait for the moment to test it on track.
"I'm very excited because there's been so much talk and so much work behind the scenes to get the car ready and to bring the car Running normally on track," Leclerc stated.
With new regulations and increasingly tight competition, the 2026 season won't just be a technical test for Formula 1 teams, but also proof for elite drivers like Leclerc to show who adapts the fastest.
