Chelsea secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup 2025/26 after thrashing Charlton Athletic 5-1 in a third-round match held at The Valley on Sunday, January 11, 2026, early morning WIB. This victory wasn't just a ticket to the next stage, but also marked a promising start to a new era under manager Liam Rosenior.

The Blues took control of the game from the opening minutes. Their ball possession dominance and pressing intensity forced Charlton into a defensive stance, though the hosts' compact backline frustrated Chelsea throughout the first half.

The deadlock finally broke in first-half stoppage time. Young defender Jorrel Hato, brimming with confidence, scored the opener with a first-time strike inside the penalty area. The ball flew into the bottom left corner, leaving Charlton goalkeeper Will Mannion stranded. That goal proved a crucial momentum shift.

Entering the second half, Chelsea immediately raised the tempo. Just five minutes after the restart, they doubled their lead from a set piece. Facundo Buonanotte's Free-kick from the right found Tosin Adarabioyo unmarked in the box, his powerful header making it 2-0 and cementing Chelsea's control.

Charlton briefly fought back, pulling one goal back in the 57th minute. Miles Leaburn capitalized on a goalmouth scramble following a corner, firing a close-range shot past Filip Jorgensen. That goal sparked hope for the hosts.

However, Chelsea's response was swift and emphatic. Just five minutes later, Marc Guiu restored the two-goal cushion. After Buonanotte's shot – created by Alejandro Garnacho's pass – was parried by Mannion, Guiu pounced on the rebound to make it 3-1.

In the closing stages, Chelsea displayed growing maturity. Pedro Neto added a fourth goal in the 90+1st minute with a precise finish into the bottom left corner following Enzo Fernandez's measured pass. Three minutes later, Fernandez completed the rout from the penalty spot after Estevao was fouled in the box.

The 5-1 scoreline stood until the final whistle. This victory guarantees Chelsea's progression to the FA Cup fourth round while providing a positive first impression of Rosenior's tactical approach, which emphasizes balance BETWEEN ball dominance, aggressive transitions, and clinical finishing.

Chelsea now await their next opponent in the fourth round, to be determined in Monday's Draw on January 12, 2026. With this performance, The Blues sent a strong signal of their readiness to make a deep run in England's oldest cup competition.
