Indonesia Becomes 2026 Badminton World Epicenter: From Super 1000 to Junior World Championships

Indonesia is more than just the home of Badminton history. In 2026, Indonesia will become the center of the international calendar for this Sport. From elite BWF World Tour tournaments to junior world championships, the homeland will be the main stage for regeneration and global rivalry throughout the coming year.

Indonesia will host a number of international Badminton tournaments throughout 2026, ranging from the BWF World Tour to the junior world championships.

According to the official BWF website, badminton tournaments in the homeland will open on 20–25 January 2026 with the Indonesia Masters, a Super 500 event.

This event is one of the season-opening tournaments and is regularly participated in by the world's top players.

Indonesia will then welcome the world's elite badminton players on 2–7 June 2026 at the Indonesia Open, a Super 1000 event, the highest-level tournament in the BWF World Tour series.

For the badminton world, the Super 1000 status makes the Indonesia Open not just a tournament, but the main proving ground for world champions and Olympic gold medalists.

In the youth development sector, Indonesia will host the Pembangunan Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix on 7–12 July 2026. 

This tournament is an important event for junior players from various countries to gain experience and international points.

Entering the second half of the year, Indonesia will host several intermediate-level tournaments. The Indonesia International Challenge I is scheduled for 25–30 August 2026, followed by the Indonesia Super 100 I on 1–6 September 2026.

Indonesia also received great trust by being appointed host of the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships next October. The team event will take place from 5–10 October, while the individual events will be held from 12–18 October.

Both Grade 1 events are the most prestigious competitions at the world junior level.

The series of international tournaments in Indonesia will conclude with two events at the end of the year: Indonesia Super 100 II on 20–25 October 2026 and Indonesia International Challenge II on 17–22 November 2026.

With a spectrum of tournaments from Super 100 to Super 1000 and junior Grade 1, Indonesia is not just a host, but the axis of world competition, where legends defend their status, and the new generation begins their journey to the top.
