Indonesian Women's Volleyball Team Captain Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi responded to the women's volleyball bronze medal achievement at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. She believes this accomplishment reflects the team's mentality to maximize their limitations.

Megawati expressed her gratitude after Indonesia secured a podium position. She considers the 2025 SEA Games bronze a realistic outcome given the team's condition, having only undergone approximately one month of preparation before the tournament began.

"Alhamdulillah certainly, we're grateful to win bronze, especially with such a short training period—only one month in Medan," stated Megawati after the bronze medal match against the Philippines at Hua Mak Indoor Stadium, Bangkok, Monday, December 15, 2024.

Megawati also highlighted the collective aspect. She emphasized this medal belongs not to one or two players, but results from cross-generational cooperation within the squad, from senior to junior players.

Megawati then focused on the performance of young players who received crucial playing minutes at a major event like the SEA Games.

According to her, pressure was visible early in the match, but it gradually eased thanks to on-court support from senior players.

"Initially they were nervous since it was their first major tournament, but we gave them support," Megawati said.

The growing confidence throughout the match serves as a positive note for the future of the Indonesian Women's Volleyball Team.

Regeneration progressed, mentality was tested, and international experience increased—essential capital for upcoming tournaments.

Result-wise, Indonesia secured the 2025 SEA Games bronze by defeating the Philippines 3-1 in the third-place match at Hua Mak Indoor Stadium, Bangkok.

This victory concluded the Indonesian women's volleyball team's journey at this year's Southeast Asian sports event.

Previously, Indonesia's run ended in the semifinals after losing to host Thailand. In the group stage, Indonesia showed convincing wins against Malaysia and Myanmar before falling to Vietnam.

For Megawati and her teammates, this bronze isn't just a medal—it affirms that even with limited preparation, the Indonesian Women's Volleyball Team can compete and uphold regional dignity. (Antara)
