Your dream vacation to South Korea is now easier than ever to turn into reality. Great news has arrived for K-Drama fans, K-Pop lovers, Culinary Tourism enthusiasts, and all travelers who want to explore the beauty of the Land of Ginseng without the hassle of arranging a visa.

The Government of South Korea has officially implemented a temporary visa-free program for group tourists originating from Indonesia. This policy, valid from 28 May 2026 until 31 December 2026, opens far greater opportunities for Indonesian citizens to enjoy Travel experiences to one of Asia's most popular destinations.

For most travelers, the visa application process is often one of the biggest hurdles before travelling abroad. This barrier has now been reduced for tourists who meet the eligibility requirements set for this South Korean government visa-free program.

An Easier Opportunity To Explore South Korea

This program does not apply to all travelers, it is exclusively intended for visitors travelling as part of an organised group.

The South Korean government has specified that group participants must depart in a minimum party of 3 people. Additionally, the maximum permitted length of stay under this visa-free facility is 15 days.

This policy sends a clear signal that Indonesia is increasingly recognised as one of South Korea's most important Tourism markets. In recent years, the number of Indonesian Tourists visiting the country has recorded consistent growth.

The Hallyu or Korean Wave phenomenon is one of the main factors driving interest from Indonesian communities. From the global popularity of K-Pop and Korean dramas, beauty trends, traditional culture, right through to iconic local foods such as kimchi, tteokbokki and Korean barbecue, this influence has successfully attracted travellers from all backgrounds.

Why Is South Korea Such A Favourite Destination?

Beyond the bright bustling metropolis of Seoul, South Korea hosts a wide range of destinations suited for every type of traveller.

In Seoul, visitors can explore Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, as well as world-famous shopping districts including Myeongdong and Hongdae.

For beach lovers and those who enjoy coastal town atmospheres, Busan offers stunning ocean panoramas at Haeundae Beach, along with the vibrantly colourful Gamcheon Culture Village.

Meanwhile, Jeju Island remains the top choice for travellers seeking natural beauty. This volcanic island is renowned for its exotic natural landscapes, breathtaking waterfalls, and hiking trails perfectly suited for adventure enthusiasts.

Many Indonesian travellers also specifically target Korean drama filming locations as their dream destinations. A number of these sites have even become iconic International Tourism landmarks after appearing in globally popular series.

Projected Tourism Surge Ahead Of Peak Travel Seasons

This visa-free program is expected to deliver a significant impact on South Korea's tourism industry, particularly leading into the autumn and winter seasons.

Autumn is one of the most favoured periods for Indonesian visitors, famous for the spectacular display of foliage turning red, gold and orange. Winter meanwhile offers the magical experience of snow, something that cannot be experienced locally in Indonesia.

This simplified travel process is also projected to increase demand for group tour packages across travel agencies. With far simpler departure procedures, many more people will now have the chance to fulfill their dream of exploring South Korea.

That said, prospective travellers are still required to confirm and fulfill all official terms and conditions of the program before travelling. With this policy active until the end of 2026, the opportunity to experience the charm of South Korea without going through a full visa application process is more accessible than ever before.

For travellers who have long placed Seoul, Busan or Jeju on their travel bucket list, this is the perfect moment to start planning your adventure to the Land of Ginseng.
