The most prestigious collegiate golf competition in the United States, the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, has officially entered its decisive stage. A total of 30 top teams that qualified through regional rounds have gathered at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Carlsbad, California, to compete for this season's national championship title.

This annual tournament acts as the launching stage for talented young golfers working their way towards the professional level. Many players who competed in past NCAA Championships have gone on to build successful careers across various World Golf tours.

All attention is also focused on defending champions Oklahoma State. The team is aiming to retain their dominance amidst tight competition from multiple elite college programs that posted consistent performances throughout the season.

Competition Format for 2026 NCAA Men's Golf Championship

The championship opens with four stroke play rounds as the main elimination phase. Once the first 54 holes are completed, only the top 15 teams will qualify to proceed to the final stroke play round.

In addition, the nine highest ranked individual golfers from teams that failed to advance will still retain eligibility to compete for the national individual championship title.

After the fourth round concludes, the 2026 NCAA Men's Golf Championship individual winner will be confirmed. Simultaneously, the eight best performing teams will advance to the match play bracket to contest for the team national title.

The Quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for 2 June 2026, while the championship final match will be held the following day on 3 June.
