Appointed to Replace Bojan Hodak, Igor Tolic Affirms His Commitment to Persib

Persib Bandung is entering a new era ahead of the launch of the BRI Super League 2026/2027 season. Maung Bandung has officially appointed Igor Tolic as head coach to replace Bojan Hodak. Tolic was assigned to continue the existing project framework that has been developed over the past several seasons.

This appointment was not a sudden decision. The Croatian coach had already been a core part of Persib's coaching staff for the previous two seasons.

Persib management is confident that through his experience working alongside Hodak, Tolic fully understands the club culture, player personalities, and the great expectations held by the Bobotoh supporters.

In his official public statement, Tolic expressed pride and honour to receive the trust to lead one of the largest football clubs in Indonesia.

"Thank you for granting me this opportunity to continue the work at Persib," stated Tolic via the club's official platform.

This statement also conveyed appreciation towards Glenn Sugita, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, and Bojan Hodak for placing their trust in him.

Tolic first joined Persib at the start of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season, replacing Goran Paulic as one of Hodak's assistant coaches.

Since that time, he has contributed to Persib's successful run maintaining competitive performance at the highest tier of Indonesian Football.

His established familiarity with the club, the city, and the fanbase is one of the core reasons Tolic felt prepared to take on the new challenge as head coach.

Over his two seasons based in Bandung, Tolic stated he has built a strong emotional bond with the local community.

"I hold great love and respect for the people and this country," Tolic added.

This commitment will now be tested as he leads Persib through the upcoming new season.

Immediately after the championship celebration period concluded, Tolic shifted full focus to Team Preparation work.

He confirmed that drafting of the team's operational program has been conducted intensively throughout the competition off-season break.

Data collection and full evaluation across all team aspects are ongoing, to ensure Persib has a solid structured pre-season plan before entering the 2026/2027 competition.

Separately, Persib management confirmed that Tolic's internal promotion is part of the club's long term strategic plan.

Adhitia Putra Herawan, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, explained this decision was made after thorough review, with Continuity and club stability as the primary priorities.

This step also guarantees a smooth handover transition, as Bojan Hodak will not be leaving Persib entirely.

The coach who successfully delivered three consecutive Indonesian League titles for Persib will remain within the club structure as Technical Advisor under the Shareholders Group.
