As reported by The Star, this initiative involves collaboration between three large durian plantations in the Balik Pulau area and 16 hotels, located across George Town, Batu Ferringhi, Seberang Jaya and Bertam.
For most tourists, the main attraction of this package is its simplicity. Visitors no longer need to book hotel stays and orchard visits separately.
Every part of the experience is arranged into a straightforward, yet comfortable journey.
Alongside being more practical, tourists will also receive a more cost-effective package price compared to booking Travel services and durian experiences individually.
Certain packages even include round-trip transfer services, guided plantation tours, exclusive tasting sessions, and durian buffets that can be enjoyed directly on the plantation grounds.
Behind its popularity, Balik Pulau has long been renowned as the home of some of the world's finest durian varieties.
One of these is Black Thorn or Ochee, a premium cultivar with soft flesh and rich complex flavours.
There is also Musang King, a variety that is almost always sought after by durian lovers for its iconic balanced bitter and sweet taste Profile.
Meanwhile, Red Prawn or Ang Heh offers a distinct character with reddish flesh and a stronger aroma, a signature trait of Penang durians that is rarely found elsewhere.
Durian season in Penang normally starts in mid-May and runs until early August.
During this period, the plantations become far more lively, filled with visiting tourists.
They come to enjoy the experience of eating fresh durian directly under the shade of these tropical trees.
