Samarinda – Persib Bandung showed their champion mentality when facing their arch-rivals, Persija Jakarta, in the continuation of week 32 of the 2025/26 Super League. Playing at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, Sunday (10/5/2026), Maung Bandung successfully stole full points with a narrow 2-1 victory over the hosts, simultaneously solidifying their position at the top of the standings.
The Stolen Momentum
The match opened at a relatively controlled tempo. Both teams appeared to play very tactically, minimizing risk while trying to break down the opponent's defensive structure. However, the deadlock was broken in the 20th minute through a moment of individual class from Alaaeddine Ajaraie.
The Moroccan striker made a sharp penetration from the left side, bypassing the Persib defense before unleashing a low finish that Teja Paku Alam couldn't reach. Persija led 1-0, forcing Persib to respond immediately.

Quick Response and Adam Alis' Effectiveness
The deficit did not immediately break down Persib's play organization. Only a few minutes later, Adam Alis equalized to make it 1-1 after capitalizing on a lapse in the Persija backline. The intensity of the game increased sharply as both teams aimed to secure the full points.
Persib's dominance continued and paid off in the 36th minute. Starting from sharp vision, Thom Haye delivered an accurate long pass that freed Adam Alis from the offside trap. With remarkable composure, Adam beat Carlos Eduardo for the second time, turning the score to 1-2 before the halftime break.
Defensive Solidity in the Second Half
Entering the second half, Persija appeared more aggressive in pursuit of an equalizer at Segiri Stadium. Relentless pressure was applied, forcing Teja Paku Alam to make a series of crucial saves, especially when thwarting golden opportunities from Ajaraie and Eksel Runtukahu.
Seeing the increasing pressure, Bojan Hodak made a tactical adjustment in the 61st minute by bringing on Eliano Reijnders and Layvin Kurzawa. The introduction of fresh legs proved effective in balancing the midfield and dampening the aggressiveness of Persija's wingers. A key moment occurred in the 73rd minute, when Eliano made a crucial intervention that stopped a serious threat from Dony Tri Pamungkas.
Until the final whistle blew, the 2-1 score for Persib's advantage remained. This result brings Maung Bandung greater comfort at the top of the 2025/26 Super League Standings with 75 points, leading by ten points over Persija, who are stuck in third place.
