Management of Ragunan Wildlife Park predicts around 20,000 people will visit the Zoo in South Jakarta during the 2026 Chinese New Year Holiday. This prediction illustrates that Ragunan remains a favorite escape for the capital's residents.

"It is predicted to reach 20,000 visitors during the Chinese New Year Holiday," said Wahyudi Bambang, Head of Public Relations at Ragunan Wildlife Park, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

This prediction is not without basis. Bambang stated the calculation refers to the trend from the previous year, when the Chinese New Year 2576 Kongzili coincided with the Isra Miraj Holiday.

At that time, nearly 150 thousand tourists crowded Ragunan over the five-day holiday, averaging 30 thousand visitors per day.

Ragunan offers more than just walking among animal enclosures. Visitors can witness animal feeding attractions, moments of direct interaction between keepers and zoo inhabitants.

"The attractions are just 'feeding time' for the animals and 'keeper talk'," he said.

The feeding time and keeper talk programs serve as open learning spaces, where visitors understand animal behavior while hearing stories from the keepers who care for over 2,009 animals.

Its landscape is well-organized, partly modernized and partly still under development. Ragunan continues to improve itself as an urban zoo keeping pace with the face of Jakarta City.

Through its official Instagram account, @ragunanzoo, management announced Ragunan remains open on February 16-17 and closes on February 18 for an animal holiday.

This information is important for tourists planning visits to adjust their Travel schedules.

The surge in tourists is also anticipated from a security standpoint. Polda Metro Jaya has prepared 1,919 joint personnel for security during the 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration within its jurisdiction.

The joint personnel consist of 155 personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, 1,106 personnel from subordinated Polres, 225 TNI personnel, 217 Satpol PP personnel, 123 personnel from the Transportation Agency, 53 personnel from the Health Agency, and 40 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Management Agency (Gulkarmat).
