Michael Carrick did not hide his disappointment. Manchester United (MU) avoided defeat, but the MU manager acknowledged his team was not at their best during the 1-1 Draw against West Ham United in the 2025/2026 English League at London Stadium, early Wednesday WIB.

"Of course we are somewhat disappointed. We didn't show our best performance. However, that disappointment is a good sign. It means the team feels their quality wasn't sufficient," said Carrick, quoted from the club's official website.

He assessed his team lacked sharpness in maximizing opportunities and struggled to break down the home defense.

MU fell behind first in the 50th minute after Tomas Soucek scored for the hosts. The Red Devils found it difficult to develop their game because West Ham played in a disciplined manner.

However, mentality made the difference. Manchester United kept pressing until the very last second and finally got the equalizer in the 90+6 minute through Benjamin Sesko.

"The players deserve credit for that late goal. We take that one point and focus on the next match," he said.

Sesko's goal not only saved one point, but also extended MU's positive trend. Carrick specifically praised Sesko's finishing.

"I'm happy for him. Another important goal from Sesko. That was a good move," he said.

He also appreciated West Ham United, whom he assessed as solid throughout the match. The hosts defended well, making the game complicated for MU.

Going forward, Carrick stressed that MU will strive to play better to get back on the winning track. He emphasized the importance of consistency in a competition as tight as the English League.

This 1-1 Draw does not change Manchester United's position in fourth place in the provisional Standings of the 2025/2026 English League with 45 points from 26 matches. They are just one point behind Chelsea in fifth place.
