Victory is the target for Liverpool when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Boxing Day match at Anfield, Saturday, December 27, 2025. This duel is not just the final match of the 2025 calendar, but also a symbolic moment for The Reds to encapsulate their ups and downs throughout the year in one final result.

Playing at Anfield after Christmas always holds special meaning. For the supporters, Boxing Day is an annual ritual. For Arne Slot, it is a stage to unite emotion, evaluation, and ambition.

"I know how special the tradition of Football is at this time in England, so it is an honor to play in front of our own supporters, especially as it allows us to be together for the last time in 2025," said Liverpool Manager Arne Slot on the club's website, Friday, December 26, 2025.

Slot wants the match against Wolves to be a Christmas present and a sweet year-end closure in front of the Anfield crowd. Moreover, Liverpool's confidence is soaring.

After going through a difficult period, The Reds have bounced back and are now on a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

This positive trend has revived optimism, with Liverpool returning to the track of competing at the top of the English League.

"Of course we want to end this year with a good result. In recent weeks we have made progress, but it is also clear to us more than anyone that there are still areas needing improvement," said Slot.

For Slot, victory doesn't necessarily equate to satisfaction. He believes his team still has imperfections. If left unaddressed, he fears it could become a problem in the second half of the season.

"Our win at Tottenham last Weekend underlined this situation because although I was very happy we got the three points, there were also parts of our game that were unsatisfactory," he stated.

In the English League Standings, Liverpool currently sit fifth with 29 points, level with Chelsea who are one place above them. Victory over Wolves isn't just about ending the year with a smile, but also opens an opportunity to improve their position before entering 2026.
