The name Elkan Baggott has resurfaced in Indonesian public football circles. Not through transfer rumors, nor a national team call-up, but rather due to a goal he scored with Ipswich Town's youth team. This could indicate the Indonesian National Team center-back still has more to offer.

Elkan Baggott is currently playing for Ipswich Town's U-21 age group team. The moment occurred when Ipswich Town U-21 delivered a dominant performance in the Premier League Cup.

Ipswich Town U-21 defeated Charlton U-21 3-0 on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in the Premier League Cup. Elkan Baggott contributed one goal.

This goal feels special as it's Baggott's first for Ipswich after a considerable period without scoring.

The last time he scored for Ipswich Town was in the Carabao Cup with the senior team. That happened in 2023 when Ipswich lost 1-3 to Fulham.

Baggott's career path hasn't been straightforward. An Ipswich academy product, he has repeatedly moved between clubs on loan seeking playing time.

Baggott has been part of the Ipswich academy setup since 2019. Although he has been loaned out to five different clubs.

Now, he has returned to his old home, albeit not with the senior team, but at the U-21 level for the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old player has made three appearances in Premier League 2 and two appearances in the Premier League Cup.

Internationally, Baggott's situation has been much quieter. His name has gradually faded from the list of Indonesian National Team players.

Baggott was dropped from the main Indonesian national team squad during coach Shin Tae-yong's era and was not called up by subsequent coach Patrick Kluivert. His last appearance for the Garuda Squad was in 2024 at the Asian Cup.

However, contractually, Baggott's future remains wide open in England.

Baggott still has a contract with Ipswich Town until the summer of 2028.

A goal at the U-21 level might not be major headlines in Europe, but for Baggott, it could be a turning point.

At 23 years old, he still has ample time, a long-term contract, and is rediscovering his momentum.
