bali has once again proven itself not just as a popular destination, but as a global tourism icon. The Island of the Gods officially ranked first in TripAdvisor's The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026, cementing its position as the world's most beloved Tourist Destination.

This recognition feels special as it marks Bali's highest achievement in TripAdvisor's history. After years of consistently being in the Top 10 global destinations, Bali finally broke through to the top position, surpassing various iconic world cities.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed appreciation for international tourists' continued trust in providing positive reviews of Bali.

“Thank you for the reviews and ratings given to Bali through TripAdvisor. Bali's selection as the Best Tourist Destination in the world according to TripAdvisor shows that Bali remains a global tourism magnet,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti.

Surpassing World Iconic Destinations

The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026 was compiled based on millions of reviews and ratings from global tourists throughout 2025. In this list, Bali surpassed world-class destinations like London (the 2024 winner), as well as Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome.

This achievement demonstrates that Bali is not only popular but consistently delivers satisfying experiences for tourists from diverse backgrounds, ranging from backpackers to luxury travelers.

Not only did it win the World's Best Destination title, Bali also swept several other awards. The island was crowned Best Honeymoon Destination, included in the Top 10 Best Cultural Destinations, Top 10 Best Solo Travel Destinations, and Top 20 Trendiest Cities Worldwide.

This combination makes Bali relevant for various Holiday styles, from romantic trips and cultural exploration to Solo Traveling, which is increasingly favored by younger generations.

More Than Just a Holiday

For many travelers, Bali isn't just about beaches and sunsets. The island offers a holistic experience—from sacred religious rituals and traditional art and architecture to preserved nature in rural and mountainous areas.

Culture-based tourism and local wisdom form one of Bali's main strengths. Traditional ceremonies, dances, distinctive cuisine, and even the life philosophy of its people provide a depth of meaning rarely found elsewhere.

The government hopes this achievement will serve as momentum to continually improve service quality and strengthen Sustainable Tourism, not only in Bali but also in other Indonesian destinations.

“Moving forward, we want to ensure Bali continues growing as a Quality Tourism destination that benefits local communities, preserves environmental sustainability, and inspires the world,” Minister Widiyanti stated.

With its blend of nature, culture, and authentic experiences, Bali reaffirms one thing: this island isn't merely a one-time visit spot, but a destination that always makes people yearn to return.
