Welcomed Enthusiastically in Jakarta, Luis Figo Wants to Go on Holiday and Explore Indonesia

Portuguese football legend Luis Figo admitted he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the Indonesian public during his attendance at the 2026 HGI Football Festival. This event, initiated by HGI together with the National Indonesian Community Sports Association (KORMINAS), was held at fX Sudirman, Jakarta.

The former Real Madrid and Portugal national team star experienced first-hand the warm welcome from fans who packed the event venue. According to Figo, the Indonesian people's love for football left a very profound impression on him.

"I can see this incredible warm welcome and the passion that people here have for football. I am very happy, very honoured to be able to experience this," stated Luis Figo during a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

The enthusiasm of Indonesian supporters has made the 2000 Ballon d'Or winner even more eager to return. In fact, Figo stated he wishes to make Indonesia his holiday destination, in order to get to know more closely the natural beauty and cultures across different regions of the country.

HGI also expressed their appreciation for Luis Figo's presence at the 2026 HGI Football Festival. Ray assessed that the legend's career experience and journey carries inspirational value, particularly regarding strategy, decision-making, and competitive mentality.

"Luís Figo as we know is a legend of the football pitch. But the way he refined tactics and made decisions during matches is something that can be a great inspiration for mind sports practitioners," said Ray.

According to Ray, these values align with the spirit of mind sports development that is currently being actively promoted, especially among the younger generation. Figo's presence is expected to motivate young people to develop their strategic thinking skills, both within the world of sports and in all other fields.

"HGI will continuously work to support all government plans for advancing mind sports in Indonesia," Ray added.

Aside from holding various activations and tournaments, HGI is also committed to strengthening the mind sports ecosystem through improved services as well as security protection for all its users.

The 2026 HGI Football Festival was also enlivened by various youth communities, including PRMI, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Putra Asgar, and the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora). The participation of these various communities demonstrates that cross-organisation and cross-sport collaboration can build an increasingly inclusive and sustainable mind sports ecosystem in Indonesia.
