Marselino Ferdinan has confirmed he has made a full recovery from the injury that kept him unavailable for the Garuda national squad since last October. This update comes as a much-needed boost for the Merah Putih side as they enter a new era under head coach John Herdman.

The Indonesian National Team's prized young midfielder revealed he has returned to peak physical condition after completing an extended rehabilitation period, confirming he no longer experiences any physical limitations.

"All good, all good. Thank God, I am 100 percent fit," stated the Oxford United player, who is spending this season on loan at AS Trencin, during the official launch event for PSSI's partnership with EA SPORTS held in Jakarta on Thursday.

"Yes, I'm recovered. I have actually been fully fit for two months already," he added.

The injury ruled Marselino out of the fourth round of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq. At that time, the national team was still under the management of Patrick Kluivert, who excluded Marselino from the squad due to fitness concerns.

Now having completed full rehabilitation, the 21-year old is ready to return to represent the Garuda Squad.

He has been named on the training camp roster ahead of the 2026 Hyundai ASEAN Cup, and also features in the provisional squad for the June FIFA Match Day fixtures against Oman and Mozambique.

Marselino even arrived early to begin training programs before the official team camp commenced, using the extra time to rebuild his match fitness and familiarise himself with the new coaching staff.

"I arrived here one full week before the official training camp started. I was completing individual training sessions with the assistant coach during that time," he explained.

Marselino's First Impressions of John Herdman

Marselino's return to the national setup marks the first time he will work alongside John Herdman, having been sidelined during Indonesia's participation in the March FIFA Series.

The midfielder has shared extremely positive first impressions of the English head coach, noting that Herdman established a comfortable, supportive environment right from the first day of national team training.

"I am very grateful, he has been incredibly welcoming, he received me really warmly," Marselino stated.

Beyond his personal approach, Marselino also commended the training methodology and player welfare protocols implemented by Herdman throughout the training camp.

"His training methods and the care provided for players are excellent," he remarked.

The former Persebaya Surabaya player expressed confidence that the Garuda squad has strong potential to develop significantly, including working towards the target of qualifying for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

"I truly believe this team can grow into a very strong side in the coming years," he concluded.
