At the western tip of Flores Island, where blue waters meet an ancient archipelago, Labuan Bajo is once again in the spotlight. Not only because of its dramatic panorama, but also due to new steps potentially transforming its Tourism landscape.

Danantara Indonesia announced investment plans for a strategic project in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT). This plan is an effort to boost Indonesia's tourism sector growth and create opportunities for the local economy.

As part of the investment, Danantara will collaborate with Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), as an existing investor, to provide long-term value and further support Indonesia's development priorities.

Danantara's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, emphasized this move is tangible proof of a disciplined investment approach and a commitment to generating both financial returns and strategic impact.

"We are very pleased to announce this investment and look forward to working closely with QIA on this project to enhance Indonesia's long-term potential, including in Eastern Indonesia, specifically East Nusa Tenggara," stated Pandu in Jakarta.

More than just numbers and a project, this initiative is designed as a foundation for a series of subsequent investments.

He explained this initiative serves as the groundwork for a broader range of investments, aimed at generating sustainable returns while consistently opening new socio-economic opportunities for Indonesia.

The hope extends beyond mere economic growth. This project is also directed at strengthening Indonesia's position as a world-class Tourist Destination, while creating sustainable added value for local communities in the eastern region.

Interestingly, the planned investment is a greenfield development project, an approach that opens possibilities for comprehensive destination planning, from infrastructure to tourist experiences.

As the gateway to Komodo National Park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Labuan Bajo holds a strategic role in Indonesia's tourism map.

Its wild and authentic landscape has long been a magnet, and now has the potential to be enhanced with a more integrated approach.

Pandu stressed the expected impact is not only global but also local. This initiative is designed to deliver significant economic impact in the region by creating jobs during construction and operational phases, increasing the number of International Tourists and domestic arrivals, and supporting the growth of local businesses.

"Located on one of Indonesia's most popular islands, this investment will help promote the natural wonders and richness of Indonesian Culture, while strengthening Indonesia's position as a leading Tourist Destination," he concluded.
